Frequently Asked Questions
I'm coming to the UK in August 2024 for the Glasgow WorldCon - can I also attend the Diana Wynne Jones Conference-Festival?
Yes! The Glasgow WorldCon is 8-12 August 2024, and DWJ2024 is 2-4 August 2024 – so there is plenty of time to travel from Bristol to Glasgow (and there are also a lot of lovely places to visit on the way, if you’re that way inclined – feel free to message us if you want any suggestions).
In fact, Garth Nix is planning to go to both. He tweeted: “I’m planning to attend the conference in person… It is the weekend before the Glasgow Worldcon so a perfect tie-in for overseas visitors like myself.”
I'm coming to the Bristol Conference on 20th Century Schoolgirls and their books, which is happening at the same time as Diana Wynne Jones 2024, just up the road in Bristol. Can I join in for part of DWJ2024?
Yes! We’ve met with the fantastic organisers of the Bristol Conference, and are delighted that they’ll be able to attend some sessions virtually!
I want to come, but I can't travel. Is there a way for me to be involved?
Yes! We are planning Virtual Sessions! More details about how to access these soon…
What is the dress code for the Conference/Conference Dinner?
We want people to wear what they are comfortable with. In case it helps to know, we are planning to be smart-comfortable. People are free to channel Chrestomanci and wear dressing gowns, or draw inspirations from Tanaqui’s Spellcoats!
Do we have to wear dressing gowns?
No! But you can if you want to, or if you think you might be magicked away somewhere else at short notice!
Will there be centaurs?
We are doing our best to locate Rupert but he seems to be off somewhere with Maree. Please email the organisers with any leads to the whereabouts of them or any other Magids.
